Why try ashiatsu

Ashiatsu is a slow, flowing style of massage where I use my feet, supported by overhead bars, to apply broad, even pressure. The work feels spacious and grounding, with long strokes that invite the body to soften and unwind. Ashiatsu is especially helpful for chronic tension, low back tightness, hips, and active bodies that benefit from sustained pressure and full-body decompression.

Ashiatsu comes from a long history of barefoot massage traditions, particularly in Japan, where the word itself means “foot pressure.” Similar techniques have also been used for centuries in Thai massage, Chinese bodywork, and South Indian practices like Chavutti Thirumal, all of which rely on balance, rhythm, and body weight rather than muscle strength alone.

This style is great for people who enjoy deep, steady work, appreciate a slower pace, or are curious about trying something new. Many clients find it both deeply effective and surprisingly relaxing, leaving them feeling lighter, longer, and more at ease.
